Call for Papers

The first Workshop on Information Experiences (WEI'2001) will be part of the 30 JAIIO, 30th International Conference on Computer Science and Operational Research, to be held in Buenos Aires on September 10-14.
The Workshop provides an open forum for IT vendors, businessmen, CIO's and information professionals to present and share experiences gathered in the development, deployment or use of new technologies and/or information concepts and models. The Workshop focus on, but no limited to, applications in the following areas:

Works on new experiences, achievements and performance in using and deployment, lessons learned and knowledge acquired on the above areas, will be welcome. Although the works could mention products and landmarks, it will be kept in mind that there is no commercial intention in the call held by WEI'2001.

9:00 a 10:00 Testing of a Complex System
Quality Assurance process is essential for the success of development projects, but frequently omitted by organizations. This experience the decisions and actions taken to support the Quality Assurance process during the development of a telephone billing system, and the conclusions and lessons learned.

10:00 a 11:30 Is Information Project Management profitable?
Debate to analyze the challenges to effectively use best practices to manage information projects in organizations. It is profitable? Does it assure the project success? Does it satisfy the client expectations? Why is it difficult to convince the CEO about the advantage of its use? Experiences and lessons learned will be presented.

11:30 a 13:00 Management of Multiple Projects: challenges and answers.
Multiple Projects management has some special challenges: implicit and explicit dependencies among activities, share of resources, functional relations among projects, etc. This experience presents, through models and simulations, the typical problems of Multiple Projects Management and the answers that Ericsson Research Canada has found.

14:00 a 15:00 Specification of Web Systems behavior using UML: from theory to practice.
The Internet systems state new challenges for developers, among them, the application of Object Oriented Techniques. This presentation will show the experiences gathered from the application of UML models to web development, the difficult aroused and the way in which they were solved.

15:00 a 16:30 Are Maturity Models enough to improve quality?
Debate to show local experiences in the application of maturity models and how the problems have been solved. Which has been the impact of these models in the software quality? Is there really a payback in the application of these models? Which techniques and models had the best results?
- Moderator: Alejandro Bianchi - CEO of Liveware IS SA.

16:30 a 17:15 Certification Model using the Capability Maturity Model.
This experience performed in the Correo Argentino presents a certification model to evaluate providers for the conversion of the CPA (Código Postal Argentino). The model used is inspired in the CMM of the SEI. It will describe the experiences gathered and the benefits obtained from the applications of the models.
